We’re excited to be marking a quarter century of collaborating with clients like you— from small business owners and non-profit organizations, to corporations and franchisees.

So, we hope you’ve marked your calendars to join us for our Anniversary Party on Thursday, December 5th, 5-8 p.m., at Ship Bottom Brewery.

And remember, as part of the celebration, we’re participating in Swarthmore’s Light-Up the Village Holiday Toy Drive, for which we’ll be collecting unwrapped toys at the party.

Of course, if you don’t have time to shop, we’ll gratefully accept cash donations that evening. The drive helps bring holiday joy to children living in Chester public housing.

It’s User-Friendly & It’s Fabulous—
It’s Our NEW Website

Now, you’ve probably already noticed something different when you’ve visited GSM.biz, but we’re just as excited about our new website as we are about our 25th anniversary. So, we wanted to ensure you knew how intuitive and easy to navigate the site is and that it’s brimming with resources!

GSM.biz is where you can access your secure client portal, which is essential for you to use (to share banking information) when working with our firm. Plus, it’s where you can find more information about our business coaching services; learn more about our tax planning and accounting expertise; read archived e-newsletters; and access links to email addresses and even schedule meetings with members of our team.

Trust in Tech: Snail Mail Gets Nailed

It’s not new, nor is it surprising, that refunds sent by mail are targeted for check fraud. In fact, The Wall Street Journal recently reported that “millions of dollars in tax refund checks are getting stolen.”

As the WSJ explained, “scammers are getting access to the funds because the IRS is still putting lots of checks through the postal system like a grandma sending out birthday cards. And although more than 90% of U.S. taxpayers opt to get their refunds via direct deposit, the IRS nonetheless sent out 10 million paper refund checks last year (per IRS data).”

And, unfortunately, the IRS’s system won’t allow people who selected to receive a paper check the option to switch to direct deposit.

Fortunately, our firm continues to be tech-forward and we are committed to helping you, our clients, harness the benefits of being so, too. That’s why we recommend that you share banking data, rather than documents, for direct deposits of refunds, and that you use your secure client portal on GSM.biz to access past tax federal and state transcripts.

The IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel himself also says “we strongly urge the use of direct deposit. It’s the fastest and safest way for us to get taxpayers their refunds.”

As always, if you have any questions about your client portal and the digital resources available to you on our website, please contact Laura Hunter.

Get a jump on your tax planning and business development goals by scheduling a meeting before the end of the year with one of our seasoned team members.
